About Edinburgh Rope Access

Edinburgh Rope Access was formed in 2012, by Nick Erskine, drawing on his extensive experience gained from many years in the roofing and building trade, combined with the rope access and safety industry.

Experience in Rope Access & Repair
We have many years of experience in emergency roofing repairs and rope access and offer a unique service that can be utilised in safety for maintenance and inspection.

Rope access utilises skills, originally developed for mountain climbing then adapted to make inspection work offshore easier, quicker, and more efficient.

Edinburgh Rope Access now offers these skills to both commercial and residential property owners in Edinburgh.

Using rope access, a quicker, cheaper alternative to scaffolding.

Nicky Erskine

Managing Director

Having gained 5 years’ experience from working on Aberdeen’s oil rigs, Nicky started Edinburgh Rope Access in 2011, with just one rope, a harness and some tools in his cupboard! Through hard work and determination, ERA boomed and one of Nicky’s fondest memories is when they purchased the office and the sign went up, “I was so proud and knew we would go from strength to strength”.

Jade

Office Manager

Jade has a background in banking and recruitment before she changed direction, moving into the field of rope access. After gaining a few years experience at another company, Jade visited Nicky to start off in the office “for a couple days”, quickly landing a full-time job and has been with us for almost 2 years now! Always eager to learn and develop her skills, Jade has nearly completed her CIPD Level 5 qualification in HR.

Ayden

Level 3 Supervisor

Having experience as a CCTV engineer and an all trades contractor, Nicky knew Ayden was the A+ employee to fill the role when looking for someone to join him! Now as a Level 3 Supervisor, he’s proud to be part of a team that allows him to progress and develop his skillset.

Starting off in the building trade, Nicky was always interested in getting into rope access and hasn’t looked back since! Despite having a professional career in BMX for 5 years, it was time to try something new – we think it’s safe to say he is a bit of an adrenaline junkie!
